Old Chelmsfordians
Sports and Social Club

See Crowdfunder page for an update!

The Old Chelmsfordians Association (OCA) was established on the 19th October 1895 when the first Reunion Dinner was held at the Grammar School and shortly afterwards the Old Chelmsfordians Football Club was formed.
Over 50 years later, in December 1947, as Old Chelmsfordian members returned from serving in the Second World War, the Association took another leap forward in the expansion of the Sports and Social sections through the organisation of a War Memorial Fund. This led to the acquisition of the Memorial Field in Lawford Lane in 1947 and this is still our home today.
The Association has grown considerably since that time. The old Green Hut has been burnt down and the Chicken Shed clubhouse has been built over. Membership is worldwide and there are now close to 1,000 members. Football, Cricket, Tennis, Table Tennis, Summer Hockey, Golf Outings, Indoor Bowls and Snooker are all part of the Association’s sporting profile. The facilities at the Lane have also been constantly improved and the pitches for football and cricket are some of the best in the area.
But if sport is not your thing and you just enjoy having a relaxing drink and a chat with old and new friends then the Old Chelmsfordians is an ideal place for that. And it’s a great place for networking too!
Membership of the Old Chelmsfordians has never been easier. As a club we welcome all KEGS students, staff and governors to become members, but now that more and more of the KEGS students live outside the Chelmsford area, we have become a community sports club which welcomes anyone who wishes to join the Old Chelmsfordians. So please do get in touch!
